Foot ball is one of the most popular game in Qatar. Qatar officially known as State of Qatar rich in culture, is located in the Western Asia with the Arabian Peninsula occupied by Qatar Peninsula. Football as a support is most popular in Qatar on the basis of both the spectators as well as players. Qatar Football Association has joined and become affiliated with FIFA from 1970. Qatar has hosted two editions of AFC Asian Cup one in the year 1988 and second in 2011 for 9th edition and 15th edition, respectively. In 2019 AFC Asian Cup was held in the UAE and Qatar national football team won this title.
Before 2010, Qatar never qualified for FIFA World Cup, Qatar won the bid to host 2022 FIFA World Cup. A lot of new infrastructure and stadiums were planned to build for 2022 World cup. It is the first in history of Middle East Country that someone won this bid for World cup and to meet the international needs local organizers are planning to expand the already existing stadiums and build 9 new stadiums. Although European domestic league has some concerns regarding the World Cup being held in Qatar due to various reasons. There were some accusations on Qatar football association and their officials for bribing the to FIFA officials but no truth is found in this and in 2014 November Qatar has been cleared from this controversy.
Arrangements Regarding FIFA world cup 2022
Qatari football officials claimed that Qatar being host of World Cup 2022 would change the perceptions of people and would be more than a catalyst in the region. It is estimated that Qatar would host nearly 1.6 million football fans in 2022. Cruise ships, licensed bars, entertainment facilities, restaurants and open areas are planned to provide to visitors.
Schedule for FIFA World Cup 2022
It is planned to occur from 12th of November to 18th of December 2022. It is planned in this time duration due to the intense heat and summery weather of Qatar, in this way it would be the first FIFA World cup that would not help in May. It will be the second FIFA World cup 2022 to be held in Asia.
Qualification Stage
There would be a Qualification stages based on which 211 members are taking part currently are eligible to participate in Qualification. Qatar must participate in the Asian qualifying team that would also make it to qualify for 2023 AFC Asian Cup. France who is the World Cup Champion team would also participate in the qualify stage. Russia could not qualify for final due to the ban that was imposed on RUSADA due to non-compliance. Ban on Russia does not allow any team to play final under Russian flag and anthem.
Total of 32 teams would be involved in the tournament. There would be total 8 groups in FIFA World cup ranked as Group A, Group B, Group C, Group D, Group E, Group F, Group G, and Group H.
